1: Get Started with Online Application Assistance

Online application assistance can simplify the process for many MVD related services for a fee, including: renewing your license, applying for a license, registering a vehicle, replacing your license, changing your address and more. In addition to the free forms and general instructions available from the MVD offices or websites, you will receive value added products such as a comprehensive Easy Guide containing information relevant to your service needs. Where possible, we will prepare your MVD forms and/or provide links to MVD online services. You will also receive 30 days of both emergency Roadside Assistance and the Repair Assist consultation service from Road America. Other benefits include an ongoing monthly newsletter and a quarterly magazine covering important updates that affect drivers, important safety tips, trends, legislative updates and ways to save money on vehicle-related services.

2: By mail

Some drivers prefer to handle the renewal process by mail, rather than taking advantage of assistance services, visiting the MVD in person, or via available online services. Service by mail is available with limitations. Read below for additional details or visit your local MVD.

3: Via a MVD office

If you prefer to access MVD services in person or your specific needs require an in-person visit, most, if not all, driver license services can be handled at a physical MVD office location. Varying MVD offices sometimes supply different types of services so you will need to check before your visit to make sure the MVD closest to you provides the service you require. In addition, you can call to see if your local MVD allows you to make a personal appointment. Read more below to see if an in-person visit is either preferred or required.

Renewing your Arizona Car Registration

Renewing your tag is an easy process in Arizona, as you are given the option of renewing in person, online, by phone or via mail.

Arizona allows drivers to renew their registration online, provided they meet certain state requirements. In order to register online, visit www.servicearizona.com/ and follow the instructions given.

To renew your Arizona vehicle registration in person, find your local MVD office from this list. You will also be required to present the owner’s address (and co-owner's, if applicable), license plate number, vehicle’s VIN number, mileage, lienholder’s information (if vehicle is financed), renewal notice or registration certificate and a credit or debit card, personal check, money order or cash to pay any required fees.

You are only eligible to renew your tag by mail if you’re out of state or can’t make it into an MVD office. Use the envelope attached to your renewal notice to send in your payment and notice. If you didn’t obtain a renewal notice, you can use your present registration instead.

Finally, if you don’t have the time or the ability to renew your Arizona vehicle registration online, by mail, or in person, the state of Arizona allows you to do so by phone. Simply call 1-888-713-3031 and make sure to have your renewal notice or current registration on hand. The MVD will require you to pay your fees over the phone with a debit or credit card. The automated service is available 24 hours a day. Once again, remember to have an emissions test done on your vehicle beforehand.
